Dr. Young grew up in Ohio and knew from an early age he wanted to work with animals.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Oberlin College in 1993, he attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a surgical externship at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany in 1999. Following graduation, he moved to Northern California to pursue a one-year rotating internship with the Sacramento Animal Medical Group. Near the end of that experience, he met his future wife and decided to stay. After 23 years of private practice, he discovered Aiken and decided to move across the country for a better quality of life.
His professional interests include general practice, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry.
Dr. Young strives to provide high-quality veterinary care by focusing on the total health of his patients while balancing the patient's best interest with the client's personal situation.
Outside the hospital, he enjoys sailing, hiking, camping, and traveling with his wife and son. His life at home includes two dogs, Bruce and Bitsy, and one draft horse, Ember.
